Continuous beam

Continuous Beam:
  • A continuous beam is a statically indeterminate multi-span beam on hinged support. The end spans may be cantilever, may be freely supported or fixed supported. At least one of the support of a continuous beam must be able to develop a reaction along the beam axis.
  • A beam having more than two supports is called as continuous beam. The supports at the ends are called as the end supports, while all the supports are called as intermediate support. It may or may not have overhang. It is statically indeterminate beam. In these beams there may be several spans of same or different lengths figure shows a continuous beam.
